Performing textual analysis using all 4 film techniques














How is age being represented in the extract fall out?
Discuss with reference to camera work, sound, editing and mise en scene.

Age is represented as trouble makers, innocent and aggressive


Sound
The main perpetrator who was aggressive towards the victim begins to call him unexceptable names "black attack" this highlights t
hat the group of boys are looking for serious trouble. His use of his tone makes him sound aggressive. He uses restricted language which emphasizes that he's a troublemaker.


Editing
When the teenagers were communicating in the second still image shows a reaction shot which highlights that something happens (perpetrator pushes victim's head) this allows the audience to see the character's reaction he feels shocked and scared. Cutting rhythm is used when the victim was walking towards the group which builds up tension and conflict between the group and the victim. This links to the idea when we see the characters reaction which he feels scared. This implies us that teenagers can also be represented as predators. Shortening cut rhythm has also been used in this clip which helps the audience to concentrate the attention of the viewer for e.g. when the camera focuses onto the main aggressor.


Camera work
In this media clip young teenagers are represented as troublemakers. This can be seen by the low angle shot which highlights that he feels intimidated because the audience is looking up to him which makes him powerful. In this moment is a medium close up which shows us that he feels angry which makes him a troublemaker. The second moment which is a high angle shot highlights that the victim feels small and less powerful. This makes the audience have empathy for the victim. The third image where four teenagers are standing looking to the camera which is an extreme wide shot which highlights that they are about to establish a conflict between the two social teenage groups.



Mise en Scene
The mise en scene in this media clip implies us the location and the atmosphere of setting background. For e.g. estates this conveys that they represent their social class. However their may be varieties of Mise en scene props is a mise en scene which talks about clothes and valuables. Our first impression of the character in the clip we can tell their teenagers this is because the colourful hoodies, era hats, chains which highlights their intruders. The body language thats used in this is aggression when the perptrator grabs the victim this conveys that the victim feels scared it resembles that he feels intimidated. The main aggressive perpetrator wears red jacket which symbolizes danger and aggression.
